Tonbo and I went to
Irish Fest today after he got off work. Much looking, some purchasing, yummy eatings, good music listening. ^_^
Tonbo replaced my previous Irish Fest ring with a new one from
The Knotty Celt (bear with them, they're still working on getting their goods online) - aquamarine-like rectangular stone with a single knot on either side, sterling silver. He also got a me a tendril pattern pin from
Diggins Designs. I also got one of her wind chimes, although I'm still figuring out where best to put it.
I succumbed to original art (several times).
1. What I call The Pale One from Wild Spirit Artworks - watercolor horse on rice paper. Has the feel of sumi-e, but is most definitely a southwestern horse in terms of art style. Cool burned edge. Need to get it framed to put in the bedroom.
Also got a Prosperity Circle from
Cast Paper, aka Kevin Dyer. It has blue as the trim color, and mine has the resin silver frame around it, which looks great on the white wall in the living room. I so wanted the framed
Heaven & Earth, but I had just bought The Pale One and was already way over the financial not-so-much-a-limit-as-a-guideline-that-I-ingored-anyway for the day.
Omiyagi was an original watercolor by Marilyn Hunter. She didn't remember where it was she had painted it, but it has a very Irish feel to me, and lovely blue tones.
Freebie omiyagi - crystal oriental guy with broken hat. The booth had lots of awesome stone and crystals. I picked up the oriental guy to look at the detail and then put it back down. The guy in the booth gave me a copy that had a broken hat because he said I was the only one to take an interest in it. You can't really tell his hat isn't as tall as it should be unless you look really close. Very cool!
I was good at the
Barry Thomas Hendrickson Photography booth, and didn't get a copy of Glendalough Monastery. Someday I'll be able to get all the art I want, and just change up the walls after ever show/event/festival I go to. ^_-
Tonbo spent some time at the Clan McKay booth. Apparently the clan name is pronounced "ma-kai", and the surname is "ma-kay". His mother's side is Kay, which is a sept of McKay - I think. Davidson is also in there as well, and the tartan is a nice blue and green one.
Briefly stopped by the
On the Wing Again booth. They now have a male kestrel, which was cool to see up on the table by the female kestrel (I would say that was Ariel, but I haven't worked with them in a while so it could be a different bird). It was neat to see new volunteer faces there to help. Ann is apparently still in the local hospital, waiting to be transferred to Baylor. Possibility of a liver transplant. :(
We stayed about 6 hours, and consumed many carbs including lace cake (now with strawberries & cream!) and a spudzilla (super-thin spiral cut of a whole potato, fried). Saw several interesting cuisines, such as the Irish gyro, haggis on a stick, Scottish tamales, and all manner of fried things, including Snickers, Twinkies, and Oreos.
Since we got there about 1:30 pm, we parked way back from the main gates, and it was a bit disconcerting walking back in the dark, since it seemed to be just us around. Made me more determined to watch the rest of the
Target Focus Training DVDs quickly.
Very tired by the time we got home, so after some soup and a TFT DVD, it was bed time. Fun day. Should have more of 'em. ^_^
